"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these". Luke 18:16
The two pictures above show some of the requirements children must bring with them when they start school. Some of the requirements must be brought only one time per year, and others must be brought each term (3 terms in a year). In the pictures you see: textbooks (cost is only $6.00 to $12.00 U.S. dollars each), a math set, writing pads, toilet paper, computer paper (for school use), long bars of soap, a carton of powdered detergent for laundry (some children use some of the bars of soap), brooms, a kilo of sugar (for school use). Other requirements not shown in the pictures: mattress, mosquito net, trunk to store items, shoes and shoe polish, uniforms and socks, pens, pencils, and erasers.

SPONSORSHIP COSTS:
We offer different ways to sponsor children in Uganda. One option is as an educational sponsor. You only pay the tuition and requirement fees, and have options of paying monthly, by term, or the whole amount one time per year. (Costs are listed below.)
The other option allows you to be more involved in the child's life, and gives you the opportunity to help them with specific needs that may arise, in addition to their school needs, such as medical care and emergencies, or food when they are out of school for school breaks "holidays". We call this the "whole child" sponsorship.
Or, you may wish only to help with the medical needs of a child or other one time specific need that may arise. The cost of this could vary and your gift amount may cover all, or part of that cost.
Whatever your decision, your generosity and love for the children has a life long positive impact on their lives, and their futures. Thank you for giving hope and a future to a child you may never know personally this side of heaven.
COSTS:
Educational sponsorships are for boarding or day scholars. Students who board have more requirements than the day scholar because they are actually living at the school.
Boarding Students: $500.00 per year. This covers all requirements except text books, and allows for travel/transportation expenses, and special clinic needs and medications (minor illnesses), food and lodging.
Day Scholars: The cost for these students is $200.00 per year. It covers requirements and tuition minus the textbooks, and also allows for special clinic needs and medications for minor illnesses.
Whole Child Sponsorships: This sponsorship takes the educational sponsorship a step further, and allows you the opportunity to help this child with any special needs that arise during the year, whether it be medical needs (large or small), special educational needs, such as tutoring, and other needs that are identified. We will contact you to let you know of the need, and what the cost of that need is. You are able to decide if this is a need you would like to help with, and how you want to do it.
Medical Needs Sponsor: You may want to be on our list of medical donors who help children who have specific medical needs and no way for those needs to be met. We would put you in our database as a medical needs sponsor and contact you when needs arise, always giving you information about the child, their need, and the cost. Then you decide if that is a need you would like to help meet.

A SPECIAL FAMILY'S STORY------------
The family of children in purple are a very special family to Mercy Uganda. Their father is Charles. Our Mercy Uganda team had the privilege of getting to know and love Charles about three years ago. Charles is such a precious young man of God who has had a life of loss and hardship. When he was a young teen, his parents were murdered by the Lord's Resistance Army while living in Gulu. This left Charles to care for his younger siblings. Years later, a sibling died, leaving Charles to care for their three children, in addition to his own six. Charles struggles to meet their needs, always loving each child and never showing partiality. The little girl in purple at the top of the page, is a niece and Mercy Uganda was able to provide financial help for her to receive much needed medical care. In the current photo, she is suffering from malaria. The children lack many of the basic necessities, and Charles works hard to keep them in school and provide for them. He is unable to pay all the school fees but does all he can to barter goods in exchange for their education.
This is Charles praising God after his children received free medical care and other items at our clinic.
This is Charles' children after recieving medical care, and the other items....this was the first time I have had the privilege of seeing them smile!

With Your Sponsorship:
1. We send you pictures and updates as often as possible. The updates are done by our team in Uganda when they travel to the areas and the schools, and by our team members who travel to Uganda during the year. You may receive 1 to 3 updates a year depending on our ability to travel to some of the more remote areas.
2. We will let you know if the child has siblings in need of sponsorship in case you want to help a family, or know a friend who may want to partner with you.
3. We will be more than happy to deliver letters and small care packages to your child when we travel to Uganda. We try to let our sponsors know ahead of time so they can send us letters for us to take with us. You can also send small monetary gifts that we will deliver to your child which provides special items, and extra food. It also allows us to purchase things for them there in Uganda so your gift is maximized.
If you have more questions or would like more information about our child sponsorship program, please contact us. We would love to share with you. Remember, your sponsorship is tax-deductible!
